It may not surprise you that in this age of chronic suing, you need to be more careful than ever while snapping photos on vacation. We all want lasting memories from our time away from home, but it would be preferable if they were of the fun on vacation, NOT being sued because we took a picture with a famous cartoon character!
When it comes to taking photos on vacations, there are a few basic guidelines that you should consider following:
1) If you are in a private place, or a place that has explicit signs indicating that photos are not allowed, DON'T DO IT!
2) If you are in a public place and there are no signs that say otherwise, DO IT!
3) Be careful where you post and share - some sites have specific rules about copyrighted images (such as that popular cartoon character at your favorite theme park) while other sites might get you fired (like this case of a teacher who posted to her private Facebook page).
