Vacation Photos - Being Legal While Having Fun!

It may not surprise you that in this age of chronic suing, you need to be more careful than ever while snapping photos on vacation. We all want lasting memories from our time away from home, but it would be preferable if they were of the fun on vacation, NOT being sued because we took a picture with a famous cartoon character!

When it comes to taking photos on vacations, there are a few basic guidelines that you should consider following:

1) If you are in a private place, or a place that has explicit signs indicating that photos are not allowed, DON'T DO IT!
2) If you are in a public place and there are no signs that say otherwise, DO IT!
3) Be careful where you post and share - some sites have specific rules about copyrighted images (such as that popular cartoon character at your favorite theme park) while other sites might get you fired (like this case of a teacher who posted to her private Facebook page).

Teaser Tuesday - Favorite Female Authors?

For those of you who also follow my book blog, you know that I have a deep obsession with books. When I'm not busy working, or traveling, or doing the menial everyday things that we all have to do (such as pay bills and cook dinner), I'm often reading a book!

I have nothing in stone yet, but I am working on putting together a group travel opportunity next year that will involve current female authors! Anyway, so that got me thinking about my favorite female authors that are still alive today. I couldn't possibly list them all here (and it'd be pretty boring for you travel types that aren't bookish), but there is definitely a sizeable list of fantastic female authors out there.

What are YOUR favorite current female writers? Anyone you would love to meet in person? What location would be ideal to meet these authors?

The extensive makeovers have been completed over the course of just two years, and the last makeover just got completed on Saturday, May 12th.

You can check out a great video of one of the makeovers below:

Adventures of the West by Disney Adventures

I saw this video today and just had to pass it along! You can discover the untamed spirit of North America by participating in either the "Southwest Splendors" or "Quest for the West" adventures, and visit everything from the Grand Canyon to Yellowstone National Park. This video says more than I could - watch and learn more:

The Value of Continuing Education

This last week I had the amazing opportunity to get together with a bunch of other travel agents and attend various seminars put on by fantastic vendors. I learned so much - and really overwhelmed myself at points! I attended sessions with such great vendors as Royal Caribbean, Funjet, Karisma Properties, Apple Vacations, and more.

That kind of experience is what makes me a better travel agent. I may not know everything about everything, but I am always willing to put in the time and money to learn more. It's also another reason why you should always consider booking through a travel agent, even if you choose to go with a competitor rather than me - we are here to help YOU. Your basic discount websites aren't here to help you, they are here to help themselves. There aren't any personal touches, and if something goes wrong you will be lucky to speak to a live person.

Travel agents, on the other hand, spend their time learning and working for YOU. We can recommend trips that will suit YOU personally, and are always willing to go the extra mile. Actually I take that back - 99% of us are like this. You may occasionally run into the 1% who aren't excited about what they do. But for the most part, we are all here to make your experience the best.

I know that most of you are probably not travel agents, but no matter what your job, you should always be willing to continue to learn and grow. It makes you better at what you do, and benefits your clients as well.

You may have noticed in my last post that I mentioned a contest through my Facebook page. It's just one more way I want to benefit YOU - rather than spending my advertising on some typical banner ads, I'd rather interact with you one on one in my Facebook page, so I'm spending those dollars to directly benefit YOU! One of you will win a $10 gift card just by "liking" my page. No gimmicks, no "click here and then be redirected through a bunch of advertisements," no popup ads. Just a simple, straightforward way to get to know you and to allow you a chance to win. If you'd like to learn more, click here to go to my last post.

Want a $10 gift card?

I love Facebook, and I especially love sharing travel related information on my Facebook page. Thus, I'm doing a giveaway for "Likers" of my Facebook page!

For this entire month, everyone who "Likes" my Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/OperationRelax) gets entered to win a FREE $10 gift card! Plus, for each "Liker" you refer, just post a message with their name in it and I will enter your name an additional time!

To paraphrase a current credit card commercial, who wouldn't want free money? :)
